Shipmiind, Bound

Made in August, 2025
Medium: My Dad's Printer, White Embroidery Thread, 65 lb cardstock (cover), Letter Size Printer Paper
Time Elapsed: 40 minutes?
Character(s) Featured: SD (they/them), Phoenix (she/her)
It took me almost all day to hand-bind ten of these, just before the state fair. Bookbinding is pretty fun! The printer insisted it was low on ink the entire time, but still printed ten books AND their covers.

Image Description
ID: Two pictures of the front and back of a paperback book, colored in dark blues and bound with white thread. The background is a deep, dark blue, almost black, and has tiny blueish stars scattered across it. On the front cover, bold white text reads 'SHIPMIND' 'cover & short story by Wildfire-Bee G. Thomas'. Thick wires hang down from above, convening on a small, humanoid alien drawn from the waist up. They are thin, bony and gaunt, and only wearing a thin, skin-tight suit. They are hugging themselves as they look upwards into the stars with a tired, blank expression. They are bald, and their hands only have three fingers. There are circular patterns on their face. They have a broad nose, thick eyebrows, and two eyes. Faint, transparent waterfalls of light fall down from their eyes. On the back of the cover, drawn from the waist up, a strong, bug-like alien stands looking determined. She wears an armored sort of space suit, but no helmet. Her face is covered in chitin plates, and she has a strong, square jaw. Huge horns crown her head, resembling the horns of a beetle. She has a short mane of black hair. She looks forward with an intense, unwavering stare. END ID.
